Bato is a building design studio, Sydney-based practice with over ten years of experience in building design and interior design. Our projects are located across Australia and primarily focus on Greater Sydney.
We work on various projects from domestic, commercial, events or pop-up spaces, retail to public design. Our expertise includes modular design, interior design, 3D rendering, concept, and documentation.
Practice Philosophy “Simple design–Simple life ”The modern digital era makes us more and more interested in complicated things throughout our daily lives, especially in our space design. We can see various colorful and complex spaces designed and built without considering the necessity of it. Designers need to create spaces with aesthetic values and flexibility.
The simplified but flexible design will help to accommodate the requirements of clients. To our team, a space is defined as living if it is simple and practical with the flexibility to accommodate multi-purpose usage. Our vision is to create a simple design but maximize the flexibility to adapt to any future requirements from our clients.
The application of clean and simple design language will define the essential purpose of a space and reveal its fundamentally simplified form.
Emptiness is not a void; it is the quality ambiance of the space created by the physical components. It is the soul of the building. The emptiness is the living part of a building to allow the flexibility of uses.

Lily Tu, our co-founder graduated from UTS with a Master’s Degree in Architecture. She has accomplished an impressive portfolio of projects throughout Sydney and Australia after more than a decade practicing Architecture Designs. Lily possessed extensive knowledge for various sizes and types of projects from high-end residentials to complicated commercial developments. During the past ten years, Lily has developed her skill sets and experience through both private practices and large corporate environments, in which she demonstrated her ability to navigate complex design challenges with ease. Her valuable contribution to the team includes her ability to initiate concepts, design documentation, development applications and construction administration. Her meticulous approach and attention to detail ensure the successful realization of each project under her purview.

Dang Nguyen joined Bato Studio in 2018 as a design team member while pursuing his Bachelor's degree in Architecture at UAH. Despite his young age, Dang has proved his exceptional 3D design skills through various event design projects. His profound understanding of design principles, styling techniques, and current aesthetic trends allows him to consistently produce unique and visually striking outcomes. Dang's renderings are renowned for their accuracy and photorealism, serving as a testament to his talent and attention to detail. Despite his quiet demeanor, his work presented his resilience and talent, showcasing his unwavering commitment to excellence. Dang approaches each project with remarkable speed, passion, and unbreakable patience, enabling him to easily solve complex design challenges.
