PROJECT BRIEF
3D modeling is necessary to allow our clients to have a realistic view of the buildings. It also presents us with valuable experiences to learn the design approaches, material usages, and weather adaptation from famous designers.
This time, team Bato Studio received a request to build a 3D model of a Heritage building. The house locates on a steep site with complicated topography. Although the client provided us with the surveyor’s report, however, it was challenging to reproduce the site plan exactly. Additionally, the house was constructed in two stages which resulted in significant differences between the old building and the later addition in terms of structures and materials.
To solve the problem, Nearmap could be the ultimate answer. This software allowed us to utilize aerial images at various times and dates to define the topography based on the shadows on the site. On the other hand, aerial imaging is a powerful tool to analyze and replicate the exact shape and structure of the roof.
At first, our team focused on mapping the site based on the surveying report and applied analysis from Nearmap to adjust accordingly. After we developed the general model of the size, footprint, and shape of the building, we spent more time finessing the details. Based on the photographs provided by our clients and our analysis using Nearmap, we could determine the accurate dimensions of the doorway, windows, steps, and other details on the facades. The differences between the old building and the addition were distinguished according to Nearmap photos and other building drawings.
In general, producing a 3D model is challenging work that requires a lot of time and effort in researching and analyzing. Team Bato Studio is proud to present our clients with the most accurate model within the tight timeframe of this project.
